Thisbe Moore

(Kendra Moore)

Thisbe came into my life in 2009, after my sister saw her eating out of a trashcan at just a few weeks old in Miami, Florida. She couldn’t ignore such a sweet little thing and picked her up. Thisbe had lots of tapeworms; so many ticks that she was anemic, and full belly bloat from hunger among other things. They got her all fixed up and when I saw her I knew she was the dog for me. Work was my life, and Thisbe gave me a reason to come home, to do something other than work, to have a life. No matter how tough work was that day, when I came home to see that sweet face and wagging tail, I couldn’t help but smile! After moving to Ohio, her mast-cell tumor showed up in October 2015, and we were devastated. She had a rough time- weekly visits to the vet, many different chemotherapies, and two surgeries including a right forepaw amputation. The amazing thing about Thisbe― besides teaching her human how to live again― is that she didn’t let cancer stop her from doing her thing. She swam in the pool almost daily in the summer, rode around like the princess she was in the golf cart, and went with me everywhere.  My sweet girl passed away on Nov. 25, 2016 and I am forever grateful for every day I got to spend with her.
