Sonny and Chiba Erceg
(by Joanne Y. Erceg) Sonny, an 11 year old Boxer/Staffie mix passed away on Oct 20, 2016 with a glioma brain tumor after exhausting all possible treatment options. He started getting cancer when he was 4 years old. Mast cell, round cell sarcoma, adenocarcinoma and finally the glioma. He endured many surgeries and rounds of chemo over the years, and through it all he was the most awesome and wonderful boy, incredibly smart and a gentle soul. Chiba was a 9 year old Boxer who passed away on Jan 5, 2017 with T-Cell lymphoma. She endured 5 months of chemo across 7 different drug protocols. In the end, all failed to keep her in remission. Through it all she was a sweet and goofy girl who just wanted to live. She had also endured multiple surgeries and radiation therapy for mast cell tumors over the years as well. They were my heart, a handsome, bonded pair of flashy fawn rescues who were the well-behaved ambassadors of the neighborhood. I will miss them forever.
