PuppyUp FITCHBURG

FITCHBURG (WKOW) — Hundreds of dogs and their owners were walking Sunday to cure cancer.

This is the 5th annual PuppyUp Madison walk at McKee Farms Park in Fitchburg. The PuppyUp Foundation is a national nonprofit that supports cancer research for people and pets — and promotes awareness and education.

The founder, Luke Robinson, started the organization because the topic was close to his heart.

“I lost Malcolm, this guy,” he said pointing to a tattoo of the dog on his arm. “…to metastatic bone cancer and I’m just a pet parent. I’m not a vet or a scientist and I just backpacked across country just me and my two dogs and to be here now to see this awesome group of pet parents and their companions it just makes me so proud.”

Since the first walk in 2014, the Madison community has raised more than $500-thousand for [comparative] oncology research.
