It’s hard to believe it’s already that time of year again. We’re very excited to announce that our 2015 Puppy Up! Walks are about to begin.
The first walk is coming up this Saturday, May 2 in Eureka, CA. Then, on Sunday, May 3 we have the Walk in Madison, WI. Luke, Ginger, Hudson, and Indy will be Madison’s guests. And on May 9 is our walk in Atlanta. These are just the first three of the many exciting Puppy Up! Walks ahead this year, popping up all over the country. How did the Puppy Up! Walks begin? On the heels of the first successful Walk in Boston, The PuppyUp Foundation was formed. Our goal? To find out why dogs are getting cancer, why they are getting the same cancers that humans get, and how to best challenge the growing epidemic of cancers in pets and people.
Our Walks continue in the tradition of Luke’s first Walk from Austin to Boston. They are a continuing promise – a promise to raise awareness about canine cancer — one mile, one city, one person, and one dog at a time. Luke Robinson, with his dogs, has walked over 4,000 miles across America to fulfill the promise he made to his dog Malcolm, and later Murphy, who both died from this horrible disease. We continue in the spirit of that Walk, reinvigorated each year — filled with boundless enthusiasm and unwavering determination.
Thousands are walking with us each year to bring awareness about canine cancer and comparative oncology — the study of cancer in pets and people. Come and walk with us. Volunteer, donate, sponsor. Invite your friends. Bring your dogs. Together, we’re creating one of the largest pet and people cancer communities in the world. There’s strength in numbers. And we’re more resolute than ever to make a positive change.
