Not your typical pet food.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Althea Seeds works hard in the kitchen, whipping up full-course meals for pets and their owners.

“There’s no such thing as people food,” said Seeds, owner of The Dining Dog and Friends in Allentown.

“Let thy food be thy medicine, let thy medicine be thy food,” Seeds said.

Seeds and her staff offer food therapy treatment for animals, serving only whole, natural foods in the market.

“Here we actually treat with purpose,” Seeds said.

Like they did with Bernard, a beagle who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a few years ago.

“We were besides ourselves, we didn’t know what to do,” said Ginger Hoyt, Bernard’s owner.

After doing extensive research on holistic treatment options, Hoyt found Seeds.  After two surgeries and a change in diet, you’d never know Hoy’s pooch only has two percent of his thyroid gland.

“We’re grateful and thankful that after almost four years we still have him because we didn’t think we would and the vets didn’t either,” said Hoyt.

Seeds says switching your pet to a natural diet can treat everything from cancer to bone problems to allergies.

“Better joints, elasticity in those joints, your pet becomes more active also they become really enthusiastic about eating,” said Seeds.

She says the results are incredible but not instant.  It takes patience and commitment before the holistic approach takes effect and no two animals eat the same but it all boils down to using real ingredients, nothing artificial.

The Dining Dog’s menu includes everything from chicken dishes, meatloaf, turkey soup and lots of baked goods like mini apple pie, cookies and even birthday cakes.

Seeds says the market is more than just a menu, it’s a whole new recipe for overall pet health, a place where furry friends become family and where the saying, “you are what you eat,” comes to life.

“It’s just worked wonders,” said Hoyt.

“There’s no such thing as people food, it belongs to the planet,” said Seeds.
