Last week, we shared a number of ways that veterinarians and pet owners can continue to connect with PetCure Oncology – without physical interaction – for cancer-related guidance, advice, and treatment options.

In case you missed it, those details can be found here on PetCureOncology.com/COVID.

This week, we have added an additional option. We stand with the human health community in their recommendation to increase the use of telemedicine as a means to keep people safe. With further consideration for pet health, we have introduced a new way for pet owners to seek specialty guidance on cancer care without leaving their homes:

PetCure Telehealth Visits*

The details are simple.

If you have a patient with diagnosed** cancer that could be treated with radiation therapy, we can connect your client directly to a PetCure specialist for a live, two-way video call from the safety of their own home. During the call, which you are welcome to join, we will help your client understand their options so they can identify if an in-person appointment is the right next step for them. All PetCure specialists are either board-certified in radiation oncology or double-boarded in radiation and medical oncology. Even if radiation therapy through PetCure Oncology is not the best option, we will provide you and your families with information to help them make the best decision for their pet – while decreasing the risk and stress associated with traveling during this uncertain time.

To learn more about PetCure Telehealth Visits, click here or call 833-VET-HERO – the fastest way to get more information or connect with a PetCure specialist.

We also encourage you to share this message with your peers in the veterinary community. With some veterinary clinics suspending services, many vets and pet owners are left without a local oncologist to support them. Please help us spread the word by forwarding this information to a colleague.

*Since the PetCure specialist will not have a VCPR with your patient, the PetCure Telehealth Visit is not a consult. The specialist can speak in a general sense about the type of cancer, its localization, and available treatment options, but an in-person consult will still be necessary for any client that wants to pursue any form of treatment.

**If you suspect cancer in a patient but do not have a confirmed diagnosis, we encourage you to call 833-VET-HERO for a doctor-to-doctor conversation about appropriate next steps.
