According to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, a couch potato is a person who spends much time sitting or lying down, usually watching television.
Do you qualify for the 2018 Puppy Up Couch Potato Walk?
Do you spend time in front of the TV, watching old reruns of Lassie, the Adventures of Rin-Tin-Tin, Scooby-Doo, Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy, Dog with A Blog, Blue’s Clues, The Littlest Hobo, Krypto The Superdog, Here’s Boomer, Paw Patrol, Underdog, White Fang, K-9, or The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show? Even if you’ve never heard of any of these (really?), you qualify for the 2018 Puppy Up Couch Potato Non-Walk Walk.
If you spend ANY time at all in front of the tube, or reclined on the divan with a favorite book, or sprawled on the couch or lounging in your cozy recliner, talking for hours on the phone, eating chips and drinking your favorite beverages, or even power napping with the occasional expedition to the fridge, you are the very person we’re looking for, and this is the very walk you’ve been looking for! It’s our third annual Puppy Up Couch Potato Walk, designed for those of us who would rather curl up on the couch with our favorite four legged friends and snuggle in front of a glowing TV tube or warm fire in the hearth than brave the wintery elements – or any elements for that matter.
How do you join the Walk?
It’s easy and you don’t even need to move from your comfy place. Click on this link to register, then settle back and let the non-walking begin. The start (and finish) line are totally of your own choosing, and can be whatever length you desire. From here to there. And maybe even back again – if you’re feeling ambitious.
And it’s just as easy to encourage your family, friends, and co-workers to support your efforts in raising in $100 to earn a T-shirt. (Which, by the way, is extremely comfortable for couch surfing.) Just visit your favorite social media sites and put the word out. You can do it in the comfort of your PJs and bunny slippers! And your friends and family can participate in their PJs and slippers too. Seriously. What could be easier or more fun than a couch potato walk?
Fair warning, though. Collecting the T-shirt may require an actual walk to the mailbox!
P.S. – We’d love to see pictures of your favorite couch potato poses – especially if you can get your 4-footed family members to pose with you. Send your photos to erich@puppyup.org and we’ll post them on Facebook. Be sure to include your name and the name of any pups, cats, or people who potato with you.
