Topbrass Fly Me To The Moon II (AKA Buzz)
Meet Buzz
(by S. Rinks) Topbrass Fly Me To The Moon II has always lived up to his name and rich Golden Retriever family legacy, even after a Lymphoma diagnosis in November 2015.
To watch Buzz ― as he is known to family, friends and fans ― soar off a dock in central Florida is watching what he was truly born to do. Together Buzz and his Owner/Trainer/Handler, Jan Casey, compete at Dock Jumping events in the Tampa Bay/Orlando area. Jan is a trainer and behavior consultant at Golden Hearts Dog Training and Behavior, LLC, but most often both can be found at Florida West Coast Air Dogs in Bradenton, jumping.
While under the care of Dr. Curtis Kane at Blue Pearl in Tampa, Buzz has already earned an invitation to the 2016 Ultimate Air Dogs National Competition at Purina Farms in Missouri. He received this invitation three days after Christmas at the UAD Regional Qualifier in Bradenton, two months into his CHOP (or the Wisconsin Protocol) Therapy with Dr. Kane. Buzz will compete in Catch-It, Veterans and Junior Division at the Competition later this year.
At 8 years old, and almost six months after beginning therapy, Buzz is living, jumping proof that cancer cannot keep a good dog down! Buzz proves that canines and their families can absolutely have a quality life and experience joy after a Lymphoma diagnosis.
Topbrass Fly Me To The Moon II, CGC, DJ (Dock Junior AKC), Junior 1/Senior 1 Dock Jumper (UAD), Novice Trick Dog (Do More With Your Dog) is owned by Jan and Jim Casey who share their Tampa home with two more canine jumping phenoms—Zoe and Buzz’s Paternal Cousin, BT–Sam a Sun Conure and Wilbur the Cockatiel.
