For two big reasons, it’s important having Dr. Rachel Venable on Fuzzybutts & Friends so early in our show’s inception. First is history. Dr. Venable was Murphy’s resident veterinarian at Colorado State University where he underwent IMRT radiation therapy for nasal adenocarcinoma in 2010 and that was a very hard, sad time on our journey.
After she completed her residency with CSU and spent some time in private practice, Dr. Venable saw the disparity between board certified oncologists and the millions of new cases of pet cancer every year and this is the second reason I wanted her on the show so soon. She founded Pet Cancer Care Consulting as a stop gap solution and is providing teleconsulting to parents who don’t have access to quality care for their fuzzybutts.
