Buster Hamberger

Buster Hamberger

Buster was a beautiful black pug (a rescue) whose owners moved away and abandoned him.  Buster came to us (me, and my fawn pug, Chloe Rose) in 1998, and was the perfect addition to our little family.  He and Chloe bonded immediately, and the 3 of us had some pretty hilarious and loving times!  Pugs have such a sense of self-importance, and rightly so!  In October, 2000, I relocated from Denver, CO, to Asheville, NC.  Chloe, Buster, and I took off in the middle of a Colorado snowstorm and made the 3 day drive to North Carolina, and it was all good!  We made a beautiful life in the hills above Asheville.

In 2009, Buster’s back legs became very weak, and very soon afterwards, he lost the strength in his front legs.  We saw specialists, and we went through the pain meds, the steroids, and then a biopsy confirmed a malignant lesion on his spine.  It was inoperable; Buster couldn’t stand or walk.  In February 2010, at the age of 11, Buster left my arms for the Rainbow Bridge. I promised him I would bring his Pink Piggy to him when it was my time to join him.  Chloe and I grieved together, and a few months later, in July 2010, Chloe joined Buster at the Bridge.  The cancer was cruel and painful, and I hate cancer in the worst way!
