Spencer Morgan

(Ginger Morgan)

There are so many reasons for me to Walk. My dog Spencer has bone cancer, a Mast Cell tumor, and some type of small growth on one of his toes. Surgery for any of his cancers is out of the question as he will be 16 on May 1st.

On Sunday, March 8th he was not feeling well, and that night I hardly got any sleep. All I could think about was is it time? I so desperately want to keep him with me as long as possible without causing him any pain. In the early morning hours, I made the decision to give him rest.

Spencer woke me up that morning barking as he usually does. However, it was a little different.

When I got to him, he was standing up with a smile on his face. He looked at me as if to say, “Not today and not without a fight”.

This morning I woke up before he did and could not find him. He wasn’t in his bed in the kitchen, or in the laundry room. I panicked, thinking I had let him outside in the middle of the night and went back to bed. Nope, he wasn’t outside. I began thinking the second coming of Christ happened and Spencer was the only one of us heathens that made it to heaven. I was happy for him… sad for the rest of us.

I finally spotted him on a bed in the living room… he had busted through a baby gate in the middle of the night. He amazes me EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Spencer is just one of the many reasons I Walk!
