Blue

Blue

Hero ~ One of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities, one who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal.

As our PuppyUp Madison 2016 team sheds tears in the passing of our 2016 Canine Cancer Hero, Blue, we send our deepest condolences to Blue’s mom and dad, Claire and Curtis. The first opportunity our team had to meet Blue, was during an organizing committee meeting in April. Blue was so excited to be out and about, and to meet what was an overwhelming majority of ladies that he took quite a liking to! (and Dr. Shiu of course) Our team explained what was to be in store for him, as he accepted the honor of PuppyUp Madison 2016 Canine Cancer Hero.

Over the course of the weeks leading up to the May 1 event, Blue relished every appearance invitation extended, including early morning appearances on local television stations. Blue sat alongside beautiful Charlotte Deleste and Adam Schrager on WISC, as Blue’s mom and Dr. Shiu talked of Blue’s cancer diagnosis, his treatment, his recovery and survival. Blue also visited the set of the lovely Christina Bellport from WMTV. He charmed everyone, especially Christina, as they shared his story and talked about the upcoming PuppyUp Madison 2016 event.

And on May 1, 2016, Blue, with his proud stance, exuberant smile and his mom, Claire, by his side, took the stage at McKee Farms Park, to accept his medal for Canine Cancer Hero of 2016. A moment, that none of us, nor his family and those at McKee Farms Park will ever forget.

Thank you Blue, Claire and Curtis. For sharing Blue with the world. His bravery, tenacity, smile, will forever be remembered and cherished by all of us.

Blue, may the red carpet always be under paw, as you make your way over the bridge, and onto more great things in the next chapter of your incredible life. You are, a true hero.

Cancer. Touches. Everyone.

May you rest in peace sweet Blue.
